This package is designed for drivers new to split compound brake setups or teams looking for a controlled, predictable entry-level configuration.
Left Front: BP-35 Strong low-temperature bite with excellent release characteristics. Generates the braking torque differential needed to help the car rotate on corner entry without an aggressive initial grab.
Right Front: BP-30 Medium cold bite that builds progressively with rotor temperature. Linear response keeps the right front from overpowering corner entry while still contributing controlled stopping force.
Rear: BP-20 Smooth, progressive engagement designed for the rear circuit's grip-limited environment. Pairs naturally with -04 rear brake line compliance to protect against rear lockup under initial brake application.
PACKAGE 2 — RECOMMENDED SPLIT
This is the recommended starting configuration for most pavement oval Legend Car applications.
The compound selection is built around the Legend Car's sub-200°F brake temperature window and the physics of left-hand oval corner entry. Each pad is chosen for its position-specific role in generating controlled rotation while maintaining rear stability.
Left Front: BP-45 Strong cold bite with a smooth, rising friction curve across the full operating range. Generates the braking torque differential at the left front that produces corner entry rotation without snapping the car into oversteer.
Right Front: BP-35 High friction with exceptional release characteristics. Keeps the right front from resisting the rotation generated by the left front. Disengages cleanly and predictably as the driver trails off the brake entering the corner.
Rear: BP-20 Progressive, smooth engagement that rises with rotor temperature. Works directly with -04 rear line compliance to create a rear circuit that is forgiving and difficult to push into lockup under normal race conditions.
PACKAGE 3 — AGGRESSIVE SPLIT
Wilwood SmartPad Brake Package – Aggressive Split For Legend Car Pavement Oval Applications
This package is built for experienced drivers who want maximum corner entry rotation and are comfortable managing an aggressive left front under trail braking. The compound selection pushes the yaw moment differential to its upper limit while keeping the right front and rear in a controlled, consistent range.
Left Front: BP-40 Maximum initial cold bite with high friction values and exceptional heat fade resistance. Produces the highest braking torque differential of any package in this lineup, delivering aggressive corner entry rotation from the first brake application of the race.
Right Front: BP-35 High friction with excellent release characteristics. Holds the right front contribution in check against the BP-40's aggressive left front output. Clean, predictable disengagement on corner entry.
Rear: BP-28 Delivers a flatter, more consistent friction curve across the full race distance compared to BP-20. Designed for drivers who notice rear brake feel changing as system temperatures cycle through the race.
