The Wilwood Wide-5 Rear Hub Direct Mount provides the superior strength of permanent mold, high-density aircraft aluminum at weights comparable to the much higher priced magnesium hub assemblies. The Starlite "55" features the strength of our traditional Starlite hub, but redesigned to eliminate unnecessary weight in the hub and its related components. 5 bolt Drive flanges and snap-cap front hubs pare the 'loaded' weight of these hubs to being the lightest available.
 
Wilwood’s innovative Wide Five Starlite “bubble” hub is lightweight, strong, and affordable, which is why it is much imitated by our competitors and the standard used in many forms of motorsports. For maximum service life and durability, drive flange bolts, rotor mount bolts, and rotor plate bolts should always be torqued at least to the minimum recommended values, and never over-torqued. Use a two-step process, snugging bolts in an every other bolt pattern (or crisscross for eight bolt rotor mounts), then tightening to spec to spread force over the hub evenly. Over-tightening, or fully tightening one bolt before the rest are snug, can lead to components not seating correctly, warped mounting plates, or stress which can cause metal fatigue.
